A Re-Imagining of Sophocles’ Philoctetes by Aaron Posner. Music by Cliff Eberhardt.
Sophocles’ ‘Philoctetes’ was, oddly enough, a favorite of mine since high school. In the gorgeous Getty amphitheater it became an outdoor, boldly physical, highly theatrical musical exploration of hurting & healing... and of the complicated nature of trust & friendship. Wonderful music and movement animated the mythic, ironic, heartfelt storytelling...
“A sheer delight from beginning to end...Posner’s interpretation rings true and is thoroughly entertaining and dare I say enlightening…”
